TUMBLING MEDIA CARBON STEEL PINS 1/8" X 3/8" PACKAGE OF 10 LBS. Review

I use these pins to clean (fired) rifle and pistol cartridge brass cases after de-priming and prior to reloading reloading them. Five pounds of these pins, 200-250 38 Special brass cases (or equivalent volume of other calibers), 2 ounces of RCBS "Sidewinder Liquid Media Case Cleaner", and 1 quart of cold water all go into a (rotary) RCBS "Sidewinder Case Tumbler" for 2 hours or so. Brass comes out far cleaner, shinier, and BRIGHTER than brand new cases!! NOTHING - absolutely nothing - cleans and polishes rifle and pistol cases better than this method. Believe me, I have tried everything else, including walnut, corn cob, ceramics, ultra-sonic, IOSSO, etc. I have used my same pins for about 25 years to clean tens of thousands of rounds. They never wear out. These darned things are expensive, but you'll only cry once. One batch of pins is good for a lifetime. There is no need to pay 50% more for the stainless steel variety. These carbon steel pins do the same job and are cheaper than stainless.
When done, simply rinse the pins with fresh water, towel dry, and leave them spread flat on a dry towel only 1 or 2 layers deep to completely air dry overnight before storing the pins. Then you won't have any rusting problems, BUT if you put them away wet, they WILL rust. If you are too lazy to do that - and are rich - then buy the stainless variety. If you are a "reloader", a handloader of ammunition, you will be PROUD to show others your reloaded rounds - which will LOOK better than factory-made ammunition.
One caveat: DO NOT buy the "mixed shot" variaty of carbon (or stainless) pins. ONLY buy this kind of pins which are pointed on both ends - and look like tiny "footballs." Reason: My friend opted for "mixed shot" and found - to his frustration - that the (mostly) round balls which are part of the mixture coincidently and unfortunately are EXACTLY the right diameter to impact themselves into the primer cups, plugging them up and are very difficult to remove.
After using, you can separate the steel pins from the cleaned brass cases by (a) a magnet, (b) inserting onto the RCBS tumbler the "strainer" cap which is included, or (c) with a Dillon or other brand of Case/Media Separator assemby, which is essentially a rotating squirrel cage. The latter is FAR superior. While the cleaned brass is still in the Dillon separator, I rotate it and spray water with a garden hose to get the dirty water/solution off the cases before towel and air drying them.
These pins are the KEY to the best brass cleaning method - ever.
