The tubing has a nice, thick wall, which is perfect for bending (and holding its shape), and for welding or threading for screws/bolts.
6061 Aluminum will also shine up nicely with a few minutes on a polishing wheel.
Get the durability and rigidity of stainless, smoothness of chrome (not the luster), without the cost!
They'll be behind the bags anyway, so who needs chrome plating... a little polish and shine... they'll look great!
